692. A CAUCASIAN KINDJAL

Length in scabbard 46 cm., length of blade 29 cm.


Literature: Arms and Armors from Private Collection, Moscow, Strelets, 2011, pp. 180-181, illustrated.

A single off-centre fuller Damascus blade with Arabic inscriptions and date 1218 inlaid with gold on either side. The grip made from a single piece of ivory with two rivets and silver bracket. The wooden scabbard covered in leather containing a locket, suspension bracket and chape with a ball gilded, granulated and engraved.
