In front of the town gates, the icon of the Vladimirskaya Mother of God is placed on a stand covered by crimson drapery embroidered in gold, flanked by the Metropolitan Cyprian and Prince Vasiliy Dimitrievich with their entourages, in the background are the domes of the Cathedral of the Dormition and the walls of the Kremlin. The composition is rendered traditionally, mostly with deep colours, and the faces are illuminated in brighter shades.
