§ 549. BOUCHÈNE, DIMITRI (1893-1993)
Costume Designs for the Opera "From the House of the Dead" and for the ballet "Des Singes", five works, each signed, further stamped with artist's studio stamp on the reverse, inscribed and numbered, one dated 1948 and three 1954.
Charcoal and gouache on paper, two heightened with gold and glitter, two measuring approximately 32 by 24 cm and three approximately 32.5 by 25 cm.

The opera From the House of the Dead, based on the novel by Fedor Dostoevsky, with music by Leoš Janáček was produced at De Nederlandse Opera in Amsterdam in 1954.
