The Paris-born sculptor Napoleon Jacques worked in Russia
from 1833 to 1858. He is known for several works which have
Russian subject matter, for example, the statue of Peter I,
placed in Kronstadt. He can be considered as one of the
founders of the realistic plastic art in Russia.
