The image shows a rarer iconographic version of the subject; the columned construction with the six aisles and a central nave symbolises the Temple of Wisdom, two angels spread the veil above the Mother of God Orans, Christ is portrayed halflength, blessing with both hands, in the middle part of the icon two groups of prophets, bishops, apostles, monks and pious women pray to the Mother of God, at the bottom the Imperial couple and the Archbishop extend their hands in supplication, St. Romanos on the pulpit is singing and St. Andrew the Fool in Christ shows the vision to St. Epiphanios.
