Christ is seated on His Mother’s forearm, holding her hand tightly, turning back to see a kneeling angel bearing the Cross, to the opposite corner is another angel holding the spear and the sponge; on the border the Church Father St. Karp carries the Book of Gospels and the monastic saints Kassian, Eudokia and Ksenia raise their hands in adoration. The image is executed with vivid colours on dazzling gold. An inscription at the lower back of the icon testifies it was the property of Mr. L. Sanin, dated indistinctly.
