His recognised style solidified during this period, and he devoted the remainder of his life to creating distinctive Christian iconography. His works started to include features of late symbolism combined with a pointillist style (which he strongly denied was derived from the impressionist technique), and subsequently late symbolism combined with echoes of the medieval pearl embroidery that he had seen in his youth. We would like to thank Tatiana Sokolova-Kharitonova for providing additional catalogue information.
