Kira Petrovna Verkhovskaya was the daughter of Alexandra Matveevna Verkhovskaya (nee Shishkova), a family friend of the Somovs from St. Petersburg . The mother and daughter worked together in Paris as dressmakers.
"During the day and in the evening light I drew. It was a sitting with my new victim, Kira, who readily agreed to pose."
