Of Armenian ancestry, Serge Sedrac (Serge Agababian) was born in Tiflis, Georgi. He lived much of his life in France, and was married to the daughter of the painter Constantine Makovsky, who was also the grand-daughter of the painter Egor Makovsky and the niece of Nicolai and Vladimir Makovsky.
