The cavetto painted with a view of the Palace Square in St Petersburg, the border embellished with blue and gilt rosettes and shaped gilt rim, the reverse with an identifying inscription “Arc pres de la Colonne Alexandrin”, signed by V. Stoletov in Cyrillic and dated 1844, with blue Imperial cipher of Nicholas I.
