Special edition reserved for a guest close to the Tzar’s family. Two silver medallions on each volume, depicting Nicholas and Alexander and a two-headed eagle. St. Petersburg: The State Paper Manufactory, 1899. In their original boxes. Mounted plates, some in colour, some lithographs and watercolours heightened with gold and silver.
Volume I: 71 plates from originals by Benois, Vasnetsov, Lebedev, Makovsky, Repin, Riabushkin and Serov; 3 fold-outs, illustrated by Samokish and Vasilkovsky.
Volume II: 18 plates, 5 fold-outs, including coronation menus and more than 45 photographs of the Royal Family. Original half-cloth colour cover lavishly decorated with gilt. A beautifully produced book.
