Ten of the icons are made of painted enamel on thin copper plates, set in plain or more elaborate frames; the icon of the Holy Abbot Tikhon of Kaluga is painted in oil on metal and lastly, the oval icon of St. Aleksei the Metropolitan of Moscow is meticulously painted with bright colours on gold leaf.
