Portrayed half-length, the Mother of God tenderly holds her Son and leans towards Him; the Child eagerly embraces her and presses His face to her cheek. It is executed in the traditional style with subdued, natural tones; the silver-gilt oklad with an engraved, radiating background, the figures covered in silver filigree, the raised border defined by strigilated rims, adorned with opulent repousse foliage and flower buds; the haloes and spandrels in painted cloisonne enamel masterfully executed, the inscription plate in champleve, marked on the lower rim, upper left spandrel and on the halo.
