Provenance: Acquired directly from Elena Aleksandrova (1874–1921), the artist’s widow, by the artist Yankel Milkin (1877–1944) in Moscow (inscription on the reverse).

Authenticity of the work has been confirmed by the expert V. Petrov.
The present lot was executed c. 1895 during the artist’s trip to the Caucasus.
