The present lot is from Pimenov’s series of set and costume designs for Boris Lavrenev’s play Pesn o chernomortsakh (Song of the Black Sea Sailors), staged in 1952 at the Soviet Army Theatre, Moscow.
Authenticity of the work has been confirmed by T. Pimenova, the artist’s daughter.
