Russian painter of the Ecole de Paris born in Dvinsk, son of a wood carver. In 1921 came to St. Petersburg, worked closely with Stanislavsky, Vakhtangov, and Meirkhold. Came to Paris in 1925, exhibited at the Salon d'Automne, the Salon des Independents, and numerous personal exhibitions.
