The lower part of the composition narrates the life of the Prophet in the desert, at the left he is shown sitting in his cave, in the foreground his vision of the angel, and next, his crossing of the river Jordan, on the opposite bank his disciple, Elisha, receives the prophet’s mantle, the latter having ascended into heaven is depicted on a chariot drawn by four winged horses, against a fiery red glory, lifted by an angel; the traditional composition painted with earthy colours, heightened in white.
