The cup is supported by a shaft of baluster form on a flared base; the cup lip is inscribed on the outside with a reference to the Holy Communion, the remainder is applied with relief foliage of baroque style, similar decoration in repousse on the shaft and base, four oval painted enamel plates on the cup show the Mother of God in prayer, Christ with the Crown of Thorns, St. John the Baptist and Christ Pantokrator. The trapezoid enamel plaques on the base depict scenes from the martyrdom of Christ, namely, His prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane, His image as the Man of Sorrows, His fall whilst carrying the cross on to Golgotha and His lamentation.
