A relief crucifix is attached to the centre, the cross bars finish in multi-lobed extremities Nikolai applied with images painted on metal; the roundel at the top shows the Lord of Sabaoth, to the left is the Mother of God and opposite stands St. John the Theologian both in supplication. Represented at the bottom is the skull of Adam at the summit of Golgotha; the images are encircled by bands encrusted with translucent paste, set on shaded enamel plates with foliage patterns, the handle also has elaborate cloisonne ornamentation with scrolls and flowers, the back of the cross is with stylised, engraved decoration.
