RUSSIAN (VETKA?), SECOND HALF OF THE XIX CENTURY

52.8 by 46.9 cm.

With the exception of the Mandylion and Christ in Silence, the composition focuses on events after Christ’s death and before his burial. The cross is prominent in all of them; on the border three of the four family patrons George, Longinus and Dmitriy are military saints, the fourth is the Church Father, St. Haralambi.
